Morticia Adams Inspired Shoot
Long time no see! It's been a hot minute since our last blog post so we are coming back with a bang!
In fall of 2022, we had the amazing experience of creating our first fully custom gown for a Halloween/Morticia Adams inspired local styled shoot.
The inspiration came from our friend Penny, over at Tipsy Tin when she described a unique gown with an unconventional train, low cut front and back with chain detail on an unlined black lace gown. Our key words became "spiderweb," "Dripping Candlewax," and -of course- "Morticia."
Using this inspiration, our custom seamstress, Bri, picked a black heavy lace with a distinct scallop pattern and a very subtle shimmer woven into the design. She used this to originally create more of an A line gown with multiple panels separating at the train but later cut it down to be more fitted and opened up the slit in the front.
As the gown evolved, she added black silk organza (very light and delicate) as a soft lining to the entire gown for a see through but less obviously opaque look. This material was also added as godets between the lace panels for a spider web, frayed look along the train creating a stunning visual along the back to pair with the chain along the low back added to a drooping design mimicking a web.
