Styled Shoot (Custom Maternity Gown)

Guess what! We hosted our first styled shoot last week!

Back in the spring, we put our feelers out to see if any local photographers would be interesting in collab-ing with us for a maternity shoot! After getting in touch with Sara at SVS Creative, we exchanged ideas and drew up a plan for a unique, blush and ivory maternity gown.

I special ordered a blush 3D floral fabric from one of my Etsy suppliers and unfortunately, due to Covid, we were left waiting and waiting with fingers crossed to that things would arrive in plenty of time to keep us on track. Thank goodness my fabric people were still on it, even with a global pandemic! We set to work using modified patterns in addition to a bit of pattern drafting. I cut the skirt with an extra eight inches in the waist (beyond my rib cage measurement) with two solid lining layers, one blush tulle layer (to add depth to the color) and then two ivory tulle layers. The top was originally constructed strapless with boning for support, then we covered everything in Ivory tulle, placing the blush appliques strategically over the tulle and hand sewing them in place to ensure their delicate vines and applique look was still in tact.

You can see a few of the vines curling up the tulle above!

Once the dress was nearing completion, we reached out to several local florists to see who might be interested in contributing. May Flowers here in Chattanooga was kind enough to reach back out and share their time and talents!

Finally, we set out to find a makeup artist. After a quick shout out on Instagram, Maci of MHernandez Beauty reached out to us with some sparkly-eye inspo that captured our attention!

Okay, so you know me, enough about the details, after all, pictures are worth a thousand words

That's all for now friends!

If you're a local vendor interested in being a part of our next shoot, feel free to reach out to us at:
